Comics in 3D

April 5, 2010 - Monday

Today's comic is a parallel viewing stereograph. To view it, let your eyes relax while looking at the pair of images. As your eyes begin to point straight ahead, you should notice similar objects in each of the pairs moving toward each other. When the images overlap completely, you will become aware of three side by side images. The center one will be in 3D. Placing a sheet of cardboard or your hand vertically between the images sometimes helps beginners focus their eyes correctly. It also helps to experiment with the distance between you and your computer screen.

If you have trouble viewing stereographs, and happen to have a red/blue pair of 3D glasses handy (red lens on the left, blue on the right), check out the image below instead.

Also, I went to Wondercon over the weekend and had a good time meeting and getting sketches from a bunch of great cartoonists. I should be posting more about my experience later this week.
