Brand Names, Original Version

June 4, 2010 - Friday

My typical process is to draw each comic with pens and brushes, scan it, color it with Photoshop, and then it's ready to post. But sometimes things can get a little more involved. When I first finished today's comic I wasn't quite happy with the punchline. In fact, you can see the original version here (click the image to see the comic):

I felt like this original version was making a point that was too much like a previous comic of mine. So the comic sat on my computer for a while. Eventually I came up with a new script, and then I used Photoshop to move around the artwork and change the dialog until I had something I was finally happy with.

But just because I like the new version better, doesn't necessarily mean you readers will agree. Time and time again I've been surprised by the popularity of strips I've done that I thought were horrible (and sometime I've had strips I love fall flat). So which of the two versions do you like better?
