One Swoop Fell and The Book of Biff
December 4, 2008 - Thursday
I'm always on the lookout for new webcomics to read. There's plenty of good ones available, but every once and awhile I find a webcomic that really just blows me away with its combination of art and writing. One Swoop Fell by Mike Dutton is such a comic. Updating every Wednesday, One Swoop Fell transports its readers away into a beautifully illustrated world (just check out the sample below). If you're a fan of the Flight anthologies, then you'll enjoy this work. The beauty of the artwork is only matched by the refreshingly innocent characters and the thoughtful storytelling. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
I also wanted to plug the webcomic The Book of Biff by Chris Hallbeck. This was one of the earliest comics I found out about when I first started learning about the webcomic community. The main character has a unique and rememberable style, and it's consistently funny 5 days a week. Chris actually sent me a complimentary copy of his volume 3 collection, though I'm not quite sure why. Maybe he thought I was blackmailing him. Nevertheless, it's a great read, and it'd make a nice Christmas present for the webcomic fan in your life (after you buy my book of course).
